Metachemical: With no less than seven originals and remixes slated for release. The Kingston, Ontario breaks producer known as Mike Stannard to his friends, enemies and creditors can’t seem to give up on broken beats no matter how had he tires. “People keep advising I go 4/4, or hip hop, but despite the occasional foray into electro house breaks are what I love. There is just something about those kicks, filters and LFOs. Nothing puts that all together like breaks.”

Metachemical believes in keeping things in the studio as simple as possible. Having started with hardware synths, mixing boards and turntables a decade ago, the setup is pure digital and pure simplicity. “Basically the studio consists of a desk, a midi keyboard and a couple other controllers, the computer, soundcard and monitors. Inside the box it’s pretty simple as well, I use as few instruments and effects as possible. I’d rather know a piece of software well and get the best out of it then have a ton of stuff I don’t know how to use, relying on presets for everything. You will never get your own sound that way.” As for the raging analog vs. digital debate, Meta put it succinctly: “If you are worried about what the producer or DJ is using you missed the point entirely.”

With chart successes “Network Psychology,” “Hearing Voices” and his remix of Break The Box’s “Rock Da Mic” on Breakspoll nominated Dead Famous records, Metachemical has begun to edge his name and sound into the breakbeat sound space. After a short hiatus in early 2010, Meta will be back in September with a remix of fellow Canuck producer Scratche’s “Good Timing” on brand new Canadian breaks label Breakz R Boss. Following this killer release, remixes for American breakbeat veteran Cereal Killaz and his latest “Addicted To You” on his label Scrape Recordings. Also slated for release on Scrape, a remix of Zarbizarre’s progressive track 3773, originals “All The Things (Rock Redux)” and “Sometimes She takes Drugs,” and a contribution to a charity LP for Discosynthetique called “The Button.” A remix for Dead Famous and Breakspoll nominated label Scarcity Records should see the light of day early 2011.

I knew I had to ask Meta what he thought of the current state of the scene, his answer didn’t surprise me: “I hear people say all the time that breaks is dead. Dubstep is the new thing, or it’s something else already, honestly I can’t and don’t care to keep track. Breaks heads love breaks and will keep doing it, and I’ll be there too. I’ve had enough people tell me I should have given up a long time ago and spent my time doing something more constructive. Making music you love seems constructive to me.”

This Electro/Nuskool Breaks project belongs to a successful young producer Pavel Inchin. The project commenced in summer 2009 and its portfolio consists of a number of signed with such labels like VIM (Greece), Chipsound (Spain) & Breakz R Boss (Canada).

Paul has so far produced 6 releases which received impressive remarks and accreditation from the industry's giants such as Beat Assassins(Mofo Records, Mofo Magazine), Blatta and Inesha (Hell Yeah, Crux), Electric Soulside (Potty Mouth), Far Too Loud, among many others. Toy Quantize's tracks and remixes are aired on NSB (UK), IBreaks radio (UK), DanceRadioGlobal.

In February 2010 Toy Quantize has become a resident on the A-Side Break Beat radio show - a new project sponsored by Prosport. (The programme used to be called Breaks FM in 2008-2009.) The show is aired twice a week on Radio Energy (102,2FM Kazakhstan). The producers hosted on the program include 4Kuba, Access Denied, The Equalizers and Quadrat Beat to name but a few.

Since the early days of his youth Somsay has always loved music and art growing up in the 80's in Calgary then later moving to Montreal to complete his teenage years in one of Canada's must beautiful electronic cities. A fan of the Hiphop and electronic music production at the age of 16, he sought to make his own songs technically for years. A relatively new electronic music producer with only a few remixes under his belt, to date. 2011 has just started to rollout a string of his original music with numerous vocalists from Montreal to appear on his tracks. Government Lies by Somsay and Rick Rags release was his first original track out on beatport and trackitdown.net hit the top 100 Breaks Charts. And his second original release hit number 50 on Beatport and top 100 on Juno Records. Without a doubt Somsay loves the Canadian scene and is devoted to it, as he is the founder of Google top Breakbeat webzine, "Breakbeat.ca". Expect to hear his slick musical arrangements, big nasty basslines, unique Canadian vocalists, glitchy fx, with an array of various bouncing beats like breaks, dubstep, electro house, Nu Disco, and Indie Dance. Mr. Bassline Junk-E known to friends and Breakz R Boss label-mates as Shawn Roussin grew up in a small town in North Western Ontario. Growing up in the 80's in small town Canada he grew fond of the taste for the funkier and early classic raps with flowing MC's and break beat patterns. Later indulging in west coast classic rap before Moving to western Canada in his mid 20's where he ran into a new and intreging sound which was called Canadian Funky Break beats and Funky Florida Break beats in which he grew to love and began to push! In early 2000 bringing his love for break beats & bass to a higher level he jumped in the studio with a handful of bootlegs then moving on to his own production in 2002. Mr.BLJ-E now has 15 Unsigned Releases out on his 2 labels, Eh! Productions, and 2 new 2008 releases and a CD Canadian Bassline Junk-E on Breaks R Boss Records coming soon. In 2006 he jumped behind the tables to take his production to the next level, and with Brother/BreakzRBoss Label-mate Bass Charger started a weekly show called BREAKZ R BOSS RADIO! 2008 has lots of good things going on for this Canadian native. Whats up and how is it going out in Calgary Bass Town?

Breakz R Boss: Wicked. Big summer ahead of us here at Breakz R Boss. Staying busy as usual with running the Record Label and Production company.

So you have started your Canadian record label now called Breakz R Boss Records, whats in store this year?

Breakz R Boss: Our 1st release was In sept 2010 and we now have 24 scheduled releases in 2011. Ranging from Breakz, DnB, Dubstep and Electro from artist across Canada, Usa, Uk, Russia and Spain.

So whats up with the Calgary-Alberta scene this year? How is it going and are you playing any festivals soon?

Breakz R Boss: The dubstep scene is doing really well, its really pushing our local scene and blowing it up to a whole new level and scene of new faces and kids. Its really special to be apart of the last few years and to see the Electronic music scene come back around again in Calgaru when not to long ago there wasnt alot happening. This summer you can catch me @ Fozzy Fest 2011 south of Calgary in Kananasisk coutry. Ill be playing a Saturday spot alongside my good bud Bomb Hertz on Canada Day long weekend!

So how did you get into electronic music?

Breakz R Boss: I was a huge hiphop head back in the late 90's and my older brother Mr. Bassline Junk-E had moved out to the west coast in early 2000 and experienced all these new sounds called breakbeats coming out Florida and Canada. Early 2000 i moved to Calgary AB and took in these experienced for myself and never looked back since. Florida Breaks was where it all began for me.

Breakz R Boss: The label has grown in 9 months to over 40 artist and remixers worldwide!

How did you come up with your DJ and Record label name, what is Breakz R Boss?

Breakz R Boss: My brother Mr. Bassline Junk-E had his name before I had Bass Charger. So I kinda had to really step up my game when selecting mine. My original dj name back when i was pushing Brteakz R Boss Radio on Stickam.com it was SteF-Funk. So when i started djing in the Local scene I had to come up with a good name. I remeber hearing one of my friend say the band name Treble Charger one day. Being found of people like Bassnectar and DeeBass and what they were doing for the scene at that time. So when I came across the name the 1st time, I knew it was a keeper.

What projects are you working on currently and what’s up in the near future?

Breakz R Boss: The next 2 releases are Bangta Rights - Fixer EP (UK) and our local guys Contraband - Gynoid EP out in June 2011! Calgary Bass Junkies Vol 6 which is a fre promo CD to promote Local Calgary producers, Breakz R Boss 2 year Anniversary Party @ Quincy's, Yip thats right 24 monthlies parties! I have a West Coast trip to play a few shows out with my BC crew this summer. Staying busy as usual!

Vladimir Basic (D-Theory) and Filip Borac (Runge Kutta) moved to Canada in the early 90s. Although they lived a block away from each other in the former Yugoslavia, they met in Calgary in 1994. They both took an interest in DJing and production and found a common sound in Drum n Bass. In 2005 they decided to team up and start producing music together, and slowly shifted their attention to the growing pandemic that is Dubstep.

Ever sincethey have been working relentlessly together to further the blossoming Canadian dubstep scene. With 4 out of their 5 releases on RFR making it to the Top 10 on almost every major Dubstep chart, and a featured track from every release on trackitdown/DOA, the duo is well prepared to lead Canada's Dubstep army into the future.

RFR proudly gave them their international debut last spring with the absolutely slamming "US VS THEM" featured on CALGARY BASS JUNKIES VOL3, to great critical acclaim. They followed the success with their self titled ep in fall 2009, and poured gas onto the flame with 'SWINE GRIME!' which featured remixes by N.U.D.L.Z. and RUSTY BRIDGES. The future looks bright for Runge Kutta & D-Theory, all we can do is hold on for dear life as they keep on raising the bar higher and higher.

Manu Twister is a young artist who lives in the province of Cádiz and whose music is related to Breaks/Electro styles.

After the separation of the group "Magnat Twins", Manu Twister goes to the music world by himself, like producer and also like a DJ. His productions and sets are filled of Breaks/Electro rythms with some touches of minimalist music. Manu Twister will make you dance and enjoy every minute of his music, accompanied of a great staging, it will sure be a beautiful experience.

Despite his short career, Manu Twister owns a big library of his own music wich many of them on sale. He has worked with few record labels, like ElSur, Infinity Sound or Funk Art.

He has had the pleasure of sharing cabin with artist like Napt, Elite Force, Specimen A, Rico Tubbs, Pyramid, BSD, Afghan Headspin, Dilemn, White Papoo, Pro7 or Bounce. Also, with spanish artists like Rasco, Perfect Kombo, Wono, Damian, Amnexiac, Skor Motion and starring in big festivals like iBreaks Festival 09 or Mad Day and a lot of minor parties.

Combined efforts of DJ Brat and Van Tek are the direct results of "Dope Tito", with over 20 years of dj'ing and producing experience.Quickly after joining Sovereign House Records and working with top talent on producing, as well as, remixing. Dope Tito has been gaining local and international recognition at an alarming rate. Their first track "Keep It Funky" had reached top 100 best sellers charts on multiple sites which also has been remixed by Marzetti & Shawn Jacobson. This was the beginning that opened the door for the Dope Tito duo to start gaining momentum in the producing industry.

Shortly after was the breaks release "Do You Speak Breaks"? Vol.1 which included the singles "Get Tokin" & "Rollin Dope", which is also under Sovereign House Records. Both tracks hit the top ten best sellers list on Trackitdown.net (where it was also a featured breaks track), Juno Records, In the mix, and #18 on Beatport's top breaks list which held for several weeks.

Now awaiting their remixes of General Levy, Leonski & M.I.A to be released, Dope Tito has also started producing for another label, "Bass Bytes Records" out of Los Angeles, California. This new connection has lead to "Universals" interest in using their original tracks and remixes for a compulation CD mixed by FX Logik. With all this attention and hype on this producing team it will be exciting to see what these boys come out with next.

Scratche a.k.a. J.D. Green has been DJing for almost a decade. Playing clubs and events through out North America. While residing in the Tri City Area, Scratche has developed a unique breaks sound energized by all genres. While he has spun at intimate parties all over Ontario, he got his break with a Fresh Entertainment residency in Revolution Nightclub's Purple Room. He was Co-creator of Reddi Supply Productions, a company that has thrown small events locally throughout the Tri Cities in Southwestern Ontario.

He released in 2002 a CD, "Dude Where's My Crossfader?" which received respectable reviews in Tribe Magazine. He also releasing CD Chunky Breaks in 2003, and in 2004 The Scratche Show Vol One, which includes some his current production works. 2006 Releasing his promo mix, as well as, starting a new online radio show through DVM Radio based out of the UK with music production partner Itche. Starting out in 2007 Scratche has put together a follow up promo mix as well as countless others, which have included some of his upcoming production. Scratche has been working hard at producing during the last few years with his original work appearing on his promo mixes as well as being heard in clubs. With his Release August 15th 2007 of a remix of Toth's Public Mind on the 4Play Trax Label. Scratche has been pushing more and more to have his sound heard.

With forthcoming remix releases due out throughout 2007 and 2008 on various record labels. His First Original Release Out now Kinky Girl on the 4Play Trax label, also now signing with Canada's Premier upcoming Breaks Label Promo Records nominated at the 2008 Breakspolls for Best Remix aswell as Breakthrough Label. Electric Dyslexic is gaining support around the globe aswell as its remix by TJR.

Also starting up in 2008 is Scratche's Radio show 60 Minutes Of Phun on United Breaks.FM. which is being well received throughout North America. As his schedule gets ever more hectic while the year progressed. After 1 year out of the game to begin his new family, 2010 brought a new E.P. on Breakz R Boss Records in stores soon. As he gets older, he gets grumpier and more demanding, but we just love not to hate on this guys. Blending some of the funkiest and dirtiest breakbeats, McTwist has evolved a sound over the years to one distinctly his own. Over the past few years, McTwist has garnered respect from many of his peers and has played along side many great DJs and producers such as DJ Dan, Aphrodite, A-Track, Robb G, D-Monic, Big Leauge Chu, J-Groove, Ill Gates and many others. Manu Twister is a young artist who lives in the province of Cádiz and whose music is related to Breaks/Electro styles.

After the separation of the group "Magnat Twins", Manu Twister goes to the music world by himself, like producer and also like a DJ. His productions and sets are filled of Breaks/Electro rythms with some touches of minimalist music. Manu Twister will make you dance and enjoy every minute of his music, accompanied of a great staging, it will sure be a beautiful experience.

Despite his short career, Manu Twister owns a big library of his own music wich many of them on sale. He has worked with few record labels, like ElSur, Infinity Sound or Funk Art.

He has had the pleasure of sharing cabin with artist like Napt, Elite Force, Specimen A, Rico Tubbs, Pyramid, BSD, Afghan Headspin, Dilemn, White Papoo, Pro7 or Bounce. Also, with spanish artists like Rasco, Perfect Kombo, Wono, Damian, Amnexiac, Skor Motion and starring in big festivals like iBreaks Festival 09 or Mad Day and a lot of minor parties.

Born and Raised in Calgary Alberta Kyle Cross has always had a strong interest in electronic album since the first time he ever heard Daft Punk's "Homework" album. His interest in electronic music helped him stumble upon the party scene in Calgary and a few short months later he bought his first pair of decks.

Over the years he has explored a lot of different styles in the start it was mostly focused on Hard Dance music on the alias Lanky. Learning how to work a crowd with good track selection and seamless mixing had given him the chance to play across Alberta and other parts of western Canada. In the following years Kyle slowly traded the aggressive beats for funkier basslines and under the alias of Kyle Cross he started pushing the Electro House and Breaks sounds he is known for today.

Drawing on influences from the likes of Stupid Fresh, Aquasky, Ac Slater, Miles Dyson, Beat beat Assassins and stereo:type you can guarantee that any set played by Kyle Cross will be rocking the bass bins with dirty basslines.

Focusing a lot more on his productions 2010 is looking very exciting with his first remix released on Fluent Recordings and a few more productions in the work.

Starting out producing Hip-Hop but quickly moving to the Breakbeat side in early 2005 when began to hearing all these new sounds called " NUSKOOL Breakbeats " coming from the UK. After 5 years of countless hours of creating his unique sounds of Nuskool Breaks and Bass and studying the scene and influences around him. He landed a remix in 2009 for MR. BASSLINE JUNK-E “Dreamer” single on BREAKZ R BOSS RECORDS. Now in 2010 N.Filtr8 is in a comfortable possessions to lock his target in, and start unloading his ultimate-n-Unique bass on the Masses. Blending some of the funkiest and dirtiest breakbeats, McTwist has evolved a sound over the years to one distinctly his own. Over the past few years, McTwist has garnered respect from many of his peers and has played along side many great DJs and producers such as DJ Dan, Aphrodite, A-Track, Robb G, D-Monic, Big Leauge Chu, J-Groove, Ill Gates and many others. Not only has his style evolved but he has picked up a few tricks along the way. Teaching himself pretty much everything, his musical background as a drummer allowed him to pick up DJing easily.
